Of course, as you suggested, i will provide strain releif so that if i tug the interconnect, it wont pull the internal wiring? If i understand you correctly, i can just solder the coloured wires direct to the interconnects AND the black wire goes straight to the earth on my amp. I didnt spot the black earth wire coming from the arm tube.i'm the sort of typical male who cant see something right in front of his face hehehee In Reply to: this ought to clear things up posted by RonWill on Augat 01:21:40:
Seen the cable diagram, but just dont know how to to do it. The pic is applicable for both 3009 & 3012 (see link) If I were the only one using the deck I would just leave the wires outside the arm, but this is not the case.
I may have a pro do the final work as I have had a 50% failure rate when working with tonearms.
I plan to eventually rewire my SME, but first will try any cables outside the arm (this way I can audition them only having to open up the arm once for the winner). I used Teflon plumbers tape to secure the wires to the outside of the arm and also used it for strain relief. I have yet to do this with my SME (you will have to figure out how to run the ground), but did so with a Thorens arm when experimenting with inexpensive magnet wire cables. Can't imagine that this would sound worse/better then the original DIN plug.Īnother option is to pick up a set (& maybe some extra's) of cartridge clips and then run new cable outside the tonearm in one piece to the phono preamp. You might try using a barrier strip to make the connections (arm cables on one side/IC's on the other). In Reply to: SME 3009 posted by Adam on Augat 06:32:48:
